At the corner of Amoy Street, there is this authentic Vietnamese restaurant “Pho99“. It serves authentic Vietnamese delight such as Pho, Vietnamese spring rolls to Vietnamese drip coffee.
The shop maybe small and low-profile looking, but it gets very crowded during lunch time. If one gets too late to come here, be prepared to join the queue of mostly working associates who work around the area.
My friend ordered the soupy Pho with beef. It comes with a generous serving of rice noodle and beef. Delicious but tastes very authentic.
Singapore weather is already hot. So no hot soupy meal for me. Besides, I have tried Pho before, so I wanted to try something different this time. I decided to try on their Bun Thit Nuong, a cold rice vermicelli mixed with fresh vegetables and you can choose to top it with grilled/bbq pork chop or fried spring rolls. Spring rolls sound good to me. And it comes with a sweet sauce for dipping too…
Although it is a very simple, it is a popular noodle dish in Vietnam. It is light, low fat and a healthier option. The ingredients are fresh and the spring roll is very crunchy, stuffed with prawn, pork, black fungus, bean and yam.
Their portion of meal is quite big. Both my friend and I could not finish the whole bowls. But we are very satisfied with both taste and portion.
As there are still limited options for authentic Vietnamese food in Singapore, Pho 99 can be one of your options whenever you crave for authentic Vietnamese delight. Simple but yet a healthier option.
